Nature reserves in the Black Forest

Use it or lose it' is the motto of the Black Forest's nature parks. With a total area of 7,450km², they are the two largest nature reserves in Germany, and there are so many different ways to discover the scenery and landscape.
They border the fertile Rhine valley to the west, and hilly meadows and farmland to the east. In between there are swathes of woodland, Germany's highest hills (up to 1,493m), medieval towns and cultural centres such as Baden-Baden and Freiburg.
Visitors can tour this 11,100km² region for free by bus or train, using the KONUS card available at nearly 140 holiday destinations.
