Located on the site of the America's first synagogue, this excellent
museum offers detailed insight into the history and culture of the city,
as well as the evolution of the Jewish experience in Brazil. All that
remains of the original sanctuary, built in 1641, are the walls and the
ground, which can be viewed through glass floor panels. Some guides
speak English, and the informative signs are bilingual.
