Born to actors Rishi Kapoor and Neetu
Singh, Ranbir Kapoor is the great grandson of Prithviraj Kapoor,
grandson of Raj Kapoor, and nephew to Randhir Kapoor. He has a sister
Riddhima. As a child, Kapoor studied at Bombay Scottish School in Mumbai
and went on to pursue method acting at The Lee Strasberg Theatre and
Film Institute in New York.
Ranbir made his debut on the big screen in the year 2007 with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Saawariya, opposite Sonam Kapoor. Kapoor was then seen in 2008 in a romantic comedy Bachna Ae Haseeno
alongside Bipasha Basu, Minissha Lamba and Deepika Padukone. The film
performed reasonably well at the box-office. It was during the shooting
of this film that Ranbir had started dating Deepika Padukone. However,
the couple later broke off.
